Celebrities with hair transplants have achieved some excellent results. A new head of hair or a rejuvenated hairline can be enjoyed for a long time, but the reality can be very different, where the results aren’t always what you might expect. There can be some trial and error if more surgery is needed – this can bring greater expense. The final results can ultimately depend on the experience and the skill of the surgeon.
Without the right surgeon the chances are, you might not get the natural long lasting results you want. Implanted hair might not work as well on your scalp or if it does work it can eventually fail. So, then you’re back to square one. Male and female celebrities can be follicly challenged and so like anyone else they can be faced with the conundrum of what to do next.
What is a Hair Transplant?
A hair transplant is the process of weaving or adding hair to implant hair into bald spots on the scalp of the head via a surgical procedure. The operation usually requires anesthesia, and the two most common hair transplant processes are: Follicular Unit Extraction and Follicular Unit Transplantation. Professional medical assistance is required from a trained surgeon. The newly implanted hair is permanent and can look synthetic instead of natural. Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) – a surgeon cuts a strip of skin from the head – the skin containing the hair is separated so each graft has two hairs in each graft. Cuts are made in the scalp and each graft is then placed into the scalp. The open cut in the scalp that was created to cut the strip of hair is then stitched up.
Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) – After all of the exisiting hair is shaved, a set number of hair with hair follicles is removed from the scalp by a surgeon. Incisions are made in the scalp and the follicles are inserted in the bald / thinning areas where the hair growth is needed.
FUT and FUE can be permanent solutions where the goal is for the implanted follicles to keep growing in the same way normal hair does. The treatments are not painless and the process can take a lot of time.
The Healing Process After Surgery
Any bandages are removed after a few days. Stitches are removed after around a week. After a few weeks have transpired the transplanted hair falls out. At the 6 months stage new hair should start to appear. Normally after a year to 18 months the final look the final result can be seen.
How Effective is a Hair Transplant?
Many celebrities choose to have a hair transplant to get back a more youthful look. Many celebrities in the spotlight will do everything they can to maintain a full head of hair; and the look that devoted fans can relate to. Fashion trends aren’t the only celebrity attributes under scrutiny. Although it is invasive and requires a long recovery period to see the best results, the hair transplant is a a popular hair replacement choice amongst well known celebs and also lesser known celebs.
How Much Does a Hair Transplant Cost?
The price can vary and it’s normal to expect to pay more if a large area of the scalp is to be treated. There are many factors to consider but celebrities can pay up to £50,000 and sometimes more.
