Meet Terry Jones, Scalp Micropigmentation Specialist

My journey into scalp micropigmentation (SMP) began after a negative personal experience with a company that carried out my original treatment. The outcome was poor, and the lack of care and accountability was even worse. That experience became the catalyst for everything that followed.

Rather than accept substandard results, I chose to retrain and enter the industry myself — with one clear goal: to raise standards and do SMP properly.

14+ years experience

Over 14 Years of Scalp Micropigmentation Experience

I have now worked in scalp micropigmentation for over 14 years. During that time, the industry has changed significantly. There are more clinics than ever, techniques have advanced, and equipment has improved dramatically — but experience, precision, and ethics still matter more than anything else.

For the first 14 months of my SMP career, I worked closely alongside a transplant surgeon. During this period, I received referrals from Jersey Hospital, carrying out scalp micropigmentation on trauma-related scarring. This early experience played a major role in shaping my meticulous, medical-minded approach to treatment.

Confidence Regained

Why I Chose Scalp Micropigmentation

I chose SMP because it is a non-invasive hair loss solution that works for the vast majority of people. When performed correctly, it has the power to genuinely change lives — not just appearance, but confidence and quality of life.

Having already established businesses in Jersey, transitioning into SMP felt natural once I saw the real impact it could have. I’ve seen first-hand how hair loss affects people emotionally, socially, and professionally — and how the right treatment can reverse that.

A Personal Approach to SMP

My own experience with scalp micropigmentation strongly influences how I treat clients today. The company that carried out my original treatment caused damage and provided extremely poor customer service. That experience shaped my commitment to offering a far higher level of care, honesty, and aftercare.

The most rewarding part of my work is seeing clients arrive with low confidence and leave standing taller, smiling, and visibly more at ease with themselves.

My Approach to Natural-Looking Results

My aim with every treatment is simple:
the result should look as though it has always been there.

Every hairline is carefully designed to suit the client’s age, facial structure, and natural features. Attention to detail is critical. SMP is a procedure where mistakes are easy to make — unnatural hairlines, pigment blowouts, and over-saturation are common when experience is lacking.

Using techniques refined over more than 14 years:

  • Every client receives a fully individual hairline design during their first session

  • Needle selection is tailored to different skin types

  • I take a gradual approach, offering more sessions than most clinics to avoid mistakes and ensure precision

This method prioritises safety, realism, and long-term results.

Honest Advice for Anyone Considering SMP

My advice is always the same: research thoroughly and never choose a clinic based on price alone. From personal experience, you truly get what you pay for. Reviewing a practitioner’s portfolio, experience, and consistency of results is essential.

Scalp micropigmentation also works extremely well alongside hair transplants, helping to enhance density and overall appearance.

A Career-Defining Moment

One particularly memorable client was a successful businessman who attended a consultation with his wife. She became emotional explaining that, despite their success, they had no quality of life. Due to stress-related alopecia, eczema, and cysts, he had lost patches of hair and even an eyebrow, and had withdrawn from daily life.

After completing his treatment, I received a call from both of them one weekend. They were staying at a spa hotel for the first time in ten years, enjoying a bottle of champagne, and wanted to thank me for how much their lives had changed.

Moments like that are why I do this.
